It’s taken longer than I ever expected, but the merger between Retro Metro OKC and the Oklahoma City/County Historical Society is almost complete.
I’m genuinely excited about the prospects for both organizations. The historical society has seen a complete change with their board; it’s an impressive and respected group of folks who are ready to lead.
We have a group of people who like to do things, but aren’t so much into the leadership functions. And as evidenced the past two years, I’m just not able to spend the time needed to oversee the administrative aspects of a non-profit.
The historical society also has the resources to take over our website, which is an amazing resource for our community.
With this merger, we will be able to have fun again touring historic properties, listening to great speakers, and of course, scanning collections.
Monday night is the annual meeting for the OKC/County Historical Society. I’m hoping as many of you as possible can attend. We are not looking any sort of mandatory member attendance by joining the historical society. But this is a time for all of us to get to know each other and finalize details (I need as much of what’s left of the Retro Metro leadership/board to be present as possible).
Once this action is complete, Retro Metro OKC will be a project of the Oklahoma City/County Historical Society.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, February 26, in the Sieber Hotel lobby at 1305 N Hudson.
I have the original email detailing this merger below.
Please let me know if you can join us!
